Two Responses to the Failings of Modern Economics: the Instrumentalist and the Realist

Realist and instrumentalist approaches are compared in the context of looking to overcome the problems of modern economics. It is argued that the failings of the modern discipline can be resolved only by way of adopting a realist orientation.
